INDIA VS TB: TB FREE INDIA SUMMIT

India accounts for more than 1/4th of the global burden of tuberculosis incidence and 34% of global TB deaths (Global TB Report 2016).

India, with 1.23 billion people, is also the second largest population in the world.  With explosive urbanization, the slum population is also growing rapidly. It is estimated that nearly one-third of India’s urban population or nearly 100 million live in slums characterized by overcrowding, poor hygiene and sanitation, and the absence of civic services.
